All is done

So I think I have finished all the requirements for this class! Whew!! I really did learn alot. Now I feel that I have enough knowledge to be dangerous. I will definetly continue to use some of what I have learned and maybe I will suprize myself and use more of them than I think. Thanks

Sitting in the park

What better way to spend mothers day that sitting in the park working on homework while I watched my kids fish. Actually it was pretty nice as I can't move around too well yet with my crutches and I could sit and do work while they had a great time catching everything but fish!

Voice Thread

Again I was frustrated over a little thing. I wanted to doodle on the picture I uploaded but could not figure it out. Finally I realized that you had to do the "doodle" at the same time as you recorded the comment. Once I figured that out it was incredible easy. I did have to go back and make an additional recording because I had quinn record the song for me. I like this site and would like to use it in the future.

Skypped

Skype was kind of fun. That is after I realized that I needed to go to my computer not the web site to make a call! I even asked my mother is she would try and down load the stuff and try and finally hook up the web cam that we got her for Christmas a few years ago. We will see if it takes a couple more before it gets done. This was how my cousin kept in contact with his family while he was stationed over seas and it worked quite well.

I hate google earth

OK so maybe hate is a strong word, but this site was a pain. I spent way too long trying to figure anything out and then I really only got it done because of luck and help from Liz. I found it hard to figure out what the buttons were for, I couldn't find the help I needed and I now am not so excited to us it in my class. Sorry Val.

Using the tools

I am working with a group of teachers on an application for a summer class. We have to put together a plan for the sustained use of our project in the years to come and I created a wiki so we can all input our ideas!!!!
It was really cool to be able to use this tool.

mini sagas

I just composed my mini saga from the pictures of Daves photostream. This usually isn't my cup of tea but I was actually happy with my little story. I'm not sure if it was exactly what was asked for but I liked it. I could see using this in science because we try and get the kids to use inferences all of the time.

Well between my first entry and now I have been home for a month because of a broken leg. This really took me out of the roll I was on for this class. I am now back at work and my brain is working again so I will try and get back on track. I have been working through module 4 on social bookmarking. This is using delicious and diigo.

I like the idea of bookmarking sites so that I can find them later. After 20 years of teaching I feel like I have forgotten more about what I am doing than what I use on a daily basis. Maybe I can keep track of the good things I do know. :)

Entry 1

In this blog I will attempt to record my experience working through this class and all of its different social networking assignments.
One of the things i find difficult is that I may need more detailed instruction than just - "go create this...". I spend an inordinate amount of time just figuring out how to maneuver around in the site. I suppose this is to let me figure it out myself but it is frustrating at times.
For example I looked for quite a while in the wiki site on how to change the font size and to center the title. I never did figure it out.
I also am not the type of person to up myself out on the internet. I don't have a facebook or myspace for this reason. I barely use the phone for crying out loud! So this part is a challenge to me.
